NIGERIAN SECONDARY SCHOOL WON TURKISH INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS COMPETITION
: The Premium Steels Primary Schools, formerly DSC Schools, has clear
all top positions in the Turkish International Mathematics Competition
for 2018 with some of the pupils winning mouth-watery cash prizes and
scholarships for their secondary education.
This is even as students from the DSC
Technical High School also posted outstanding results at the
International Science Olympiad, organised by the National Mathematical
Centre, Abuja.
Addressing newsmen on the performance of
the school in the competition, which took place in Asaba, Delta State,
Ben Etaghene, the Deputy General Manager (NONE-CORE), Premium Steel and
Mines Limited, disclosed with proof that pupils from the DSC schools
took the first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions in the
competition, which drew participants from over 100 primary schools
across Delta State.

He disclosed further that the eight and
tenth positions also went to pupils from the school, adding that while
at the primary level, the schools have continued to dominate in
outstanding performance in science education in the state, saying
further that students from the DSC Technical High School, Orhuwhorun,
have also maintained impressive performances for which the school had
gained international reputation over the years.
Etaghene
added that of the number of students that entered for the International
Science Olympiad organised, students from THS emerged from the various
stages with impressive results even though junior secondary school
students from THS, he revealed, were brought under the same competition
with senior secondary students from other schools across Nigeria.
According to Mr. Ben Etaghene, Enameguono
Erovwosere won full scholarship and cash prize at national level of the
competition while Emmanuel Emafido won full scholarship at state level
because of their outstanding performances in the Turkish International
Mathematics Competition.
