JAMB ADMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR ALL UNIVERSITIES 2017
2.2.01 BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY
(a) Regulations governing admission into First Degree
programmes in Benson Idahosa University are as follows:
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
1. At least five SSCE/NECO/GCE 'O' level credits at not more
than two sittings.
2. Degree of University recognised by Senate of the
University.
3. Diplomas (OND/HND) and NCE in relevant fields not
below Upper Credit level.
4. Five credits/merit passes in Teachers Grade II examination
in relevant subjects (for entries into the faculties of Arts,
Education and Social Sciences only).
(b) English Language Requirements:
The following are acceptable as fulfilling the English Language requirement
apart from SSCE credit pass except where otherwise stated in departmental
requirements:
(i) NCE English Language/General paper
(ii) Credit/merit pass in Teachers Grade II English Language.
2.2.02 UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN
(a) University of Ibadan require all candidates applying for admission into
any of its courses to possess at least Five (5) SSCE credit passes at one
sitting including English Language and Mathematics except when
stated otherwise.
(b) Combined Degree
(i) Candidates are hereby informed that at the point of registration, the major
courses could be combined with others as set out below. Candidates are
advised to select the codes for major courses while completing the
application forms.

(f) University of Ibadan requires a credit pass in Mathematics for all Science

2.2.03 UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS, LAGOS
(i) University of Lagos requires all candidates applying for admission into any of
its courses to possess at least five (5) SSCE credit passes in relevant subjects
at one sitting including Mathematics and English Language.
(ii) DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION
(a) Accepts National Diploma plus UTME requirements for all Direct Entry
Admissions.
(b) holders of first degree who have completed NYSC programme with first
class/second class upper may be accepted for Law or Medical Science
programmes. Candidates must have the UTME requirements.
i. Literature in English Language is not a requirement for graduate
candidates seeking direct admission into the Faculty of Law.
ii. For admission into Medicine and Surgery, only degrees in relevant
field will be accepted.
(c) 2/3 A' level passes which must be at a minimum of grade 'C' plus
the UTME requirements.
(d) The following 2/3 year Diploma/Certificate are acceptable provided the
candidates have the UTME requirements.
i. UNILAG 2-year Diploma in Social Development and Administration at
CGPA of 3.50 for B.Sc. Sociology and Social Works
ii. UNILAG 2-year Diploma in PHE at CGPA 3.50 for B.Sc. Health
Education.
iii. 2-year Diploma/OND at Distinction level in Music or Theatre
Arts for Creative Arts.

iv. HND/OND at Distinction level for candidates seeking admissions
into the relevant courses in the Faculties of Engineering and
Environmental Sciences.
v. NCE in relevant subjects at merit level in the Faculty of Education.

2.2.04 OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY, ILE-IFE
(a) The University does not accept a pass in English Language for admission to any
programme. However it accepts Teacher Grade II (TC II) for B.A. Educ/B.Ed
degree only.
(b) A pass in the General Paper at the Principal Level of the Higher School
Certificate is regarded as equivalent to an Ordinary Level credit pass in English
Language.
(c) For Direct Entry.
(i) OAU requires a minimum of three A/Level Science subjects as
indicated. OND/HND ( Upper Credit) as indicated in appropriate cases
for candidates seeking admission into the Faculties of Environmental
Design and Management, Health Science, Pharmacy and Technology.
(ii) For Admission into the Faculty of Education, Two Teaching subjects
from Colleges of Education are required. The Faculty does not accept
Guidance and Counselling as a Teaching subject.
(iii) NCE Holders from Colleges of Education, affiliated colleges of Education
and none affiliated ones will be admitted into Part II.

(iv) FOR FACULTY OF EDUCATION
U.T.M.E
Five credits in General Certificate of Education or its equivalent from any
nationally or internationally reconginsed examination body or TCII
credit/merit passes must include English Language for all disciplines. In
addition to this, a credit pass in Mathematics is compulsory for all Bachelor
of Science (B.Sc) in Education programmes.
The (Principal and Practice of Education” was now acceptable as one of the
subjects for admission.
Other specific requirements for each of courses are stated in the table
below
DIRECT ENTRY
In addition to O/Level (U.T.M,E) requirements candidates seeking Direct
Entry admission into Faculty of Education shall posses G.C.E ‘A’ Level passes
or NCE credit/merit in two relevant teaching subjects or one
professional/teaching subject offered as double major or one professional
subject combined with a teaching subject (i.e. a course/subject offered as
double major need not be combined with any teaching subject) however a
candidate with a pass in one of the teaching subjects may be considered for
admission provided the aggregate is not less than seven (7) points in all.
Professional subject that can be combined with teaching subjects for
admission include Primary Education Studies (PES), Guidance and
Counselling, Computer Science/Studies and any Special Education
specialization. Candidates holding NCE certificate in any vocational subject
(offered as combined or as double major) e.g. Electrical Electronics, Auto
Mechanics, Building Technology etc are eligible for admissions into the B.Ed.
Mathematics/Integrated Science or Physics Education programme.
Candidates holding NCE certificate in any Business Studies, Home Economics
are eligible for admission into either B.Sc Education (Economics) or B.ED
Social Studies programme. Candidates holding NCE certificate in any of
Office Management, Secretarial Studies, Typing and Shorthand are eligible
for admission into the B.Ed Social Studies programme. Candidates with
Diploma in Education with a minimum of merit pass from any recognised
institution are eligible for direct entry admission. Specific requirements for
each course were stated in the table below.
2.2.05 UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA
(a) University of Nigeria, Nsukka requires all candidates applying for admission
into any of its courses to possess five credit O’ level passes which must include
a credit pass in English Language and a Science subject in not more than two
sittings.
Entry requirement for Direct Entry must include UTME requirement
for that particular course. Prospective candidates should also visit its website:
www.unn.edu.ng for updates on both university and Departmental Entry
requirements.

2.2.06 COVENANT UNIVERSITY, OTTA, OGUN STATE
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
(i) Credit passes in the Senior Secondary School (S.S.S.) Certificate, or its
equivalent in relevant subject areas in addition to acceptable pass in the
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, are the qualifications for
admission into the four (4) year degree programmes of Covenant University.
(ii) Covenant University does not admit through Direct Entry.
(iii) English Language Requirement
In all cases, credit pass in Mathematics and English Language at the Senior
School Certificate or equivalent are required for all courses in Covenant
University.
2.2.07 FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES OF AGRICULTURE, ABEOKUTA
University of Agriculture, Abeokuta
requires all candidates seeking
admission into any of its courses to possess at least five (5) SSCE credit
passes in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings including English
Language and Mathematics.
The candidates must be sixteen (16) years of age by 1st of October in the
year of admission.
Agricultural programmes
UTME:
Five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry,
Physics and Biology at not more than two sittings for admission into any
course of the programme.
A waiver is given to candidates with pass in Biology if he/she has a credit
pass in Agricultural Science. A pass in Physics is acceptable only for
Agricultural programmes.
DIRECT ENTRY:
In addition to O’ level requirements, candidates seeking Direct Entry
admission shall posses GCE A’ level passes in Chemistry and one of Biology,
Agricultural Science, Physics, Mathematics or Geography.
Holders of ND/HND qualifications with at least Upper credit in agriculture or
related disciplines may be considered for Direct Entry. The University
accepts NCE with at least credit in Agricultural Sciences.

Sciences and Engineering programmes
UTME:
Five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry,
Physics and Biology at not more than two sittings for admission into any
course of the programme.
DIRECT ENTRY:
In addition to O’ level requirements, candidates seeking Direct Entry
admission shall posses GCE A’ level passes in any two of the following:
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Zoology/Botany OR ND
(Upper Credit), NCE (Credit) in related areas from a recognised Institution.
NCE (Technical) is not acceptable for Engineering Programmes.
Holders of ND/HND qualifications with at least Upper credit in agriculture or
related disciplines may be considered for Direct Entry. The University
accepts NCE with at least credit in Agricultural Sciences.
Management Sciences Programmes
UTME:
Five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and
two other Social Sciences subject from Government, Principles of Account,
Commerce and Geography are required for admission into Economics,
Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Enterprise Management and
Entrepreneurial Studies.
DIRECT ENTRY:
In addition to O’ level requirements, candidates seeking Direct Entry
admission shall posses GCE A’ level passes in Economics and at least one of
the following: Mathematics, Government, Accounting, Business
Management OR ND (Upper Credit) in Accounting, Business Administration
or related discipline. It accepts its own Diploma plus UTME requirement.
2.2.08 FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, AKURE
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All courses are of five years duration. Admission to all courses is mainly
through the UTME.
Entry Requirements:
(a) Commencing from 2005/2006 academic session, all courses offered in the
University require a minimum of at least a Credit pass in English Language
and Mathematics.
(b) A pass in Physics is only acceptable in the following Departments:
(i) Estate Management,
(ii) Industrial Design,
(iii) Urban and Regional Planning,
(iv) Agric Econs & Extension,
(v) Ecotourism and Wildlife Management,
(vi) Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology,
(vii) Crop Soil and Pest Management
(c) A pass in Chemistry is only acceptable in Architecture
(d) FUTA accepts a minimum of pass at Upper Credit level of the National
Diploma for Direct Entry candidates from NBTE accredited institutions.

2.2.09 EBONYI STATE UNIVERSITY, ABAKALIKI
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the various departmental requirements, a candidate MUST have the
University Minimum entry requirement of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects
including English Language and Mathematics at GCE O' Level/SSCE, NECO or their
equivalents.
DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR ADMISSION INTO FACULTY OF EDUCATION
Ebonyi State University accepts a minimum of merit passes in NCE or OND
for admission into a 3 year Degree programme in relevant fields in addition
to the O' level/TC II requirements in each courses offered in Faculty of

2.2.10 SALEM UNIVERSITY, LOKOJA
The section on "Combined Degrees" is designed to foster the niche for the
University that was outlined in the Academic Brief and approved by the
National Universities Commission. In particular, the selected combined
degrees seek to empower generational leaders with balanced
comprehensive curricula which will make them job creators rather than job
seekers, hence the role of information technology and business/managerial
aspects has been prioritized in the combinations and this will make Salem
University graduate highly vocationalzed in entrepreneurial skills.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
a) At least five credit passed (including English Language and Mathematics) which
must be obtained in not more than two sitting in the West African School
Certificate Examination (WASCE) and the General Certificate of Education (GCE).
Direct Entry Mode
b) For candidates to qualify for direct entry into Salem University, they must have
A-Level passes in two relevant subjects in addition to five credit passes at the OLevel,
which must include English Language and Mathematics. The University
also accepts its own Diploma Certificate in the various courses run at the IJMB
Programme as well as Diploma Certificates from recognized universities.
Candidates with good OND/ND or NCE passes may also be considered for
admission via direct entry.
c) In addition to the above general requirements, prospective students must
satisfy the specific college/departmental requirements
2.2.11. CRESCENT UNIVERSITY, ABEOKUTA
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS.
i) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
(a) Credit at SSCE, GCE, NECO or approved equivalent in at least five subjects
which must include English Language and Mathematics and any other three
as may be specified by each College.
(b) The five credits should be obtained in not more than two sittings.
(c) Candidates who have just concluded their SSCE, GCE and NECO and are
awaiting their results may also apply.
(d) All applicants will be required to go through Crescent University’s screening
exercise without which a candidate will not be offered admission into the
University.
(e) Interested candidates who have applied to Joint Admissions and
Matriculation Board (JAMB) for admission and wish to change their first
choice to Crescent University are required to:
(1) Apply for change of institution through JAMB
(2) Obtain the CRESCENT UNIVERSITY, ABEOKUTA application form
(3) Participate in the screening exercise
(4) All applicants are required to obtain JAMB forms as well as Crescent
University application forms before they can qualify for the screening
exercise.
(5) Admission through JAMB will be offered to candidates who have taken
Crescent University as their choice and have acceptable scores in the
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
(ii) DIRECT ENTRY (ADMISSION TO 200 LEVEL)
(a) NCE, OND, HND in relevant fields and at least at lower credit level in addition
to O’ Level requirements stated above may be admitted at appropriate level.
(b) Two Advanced level passes or its equivalent in relevant subjects in addition to
O/L requirements stated above.
(c) The interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) at acceptable grade levels.

2.2.12 FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, MINNA
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the various departmental requirements, a candidate MUST
have an SSCE credit passes in Mathematics and English Language.
2.2.13 FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES, EFFURUM
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
i. All admissions into FUPRE are through UTME
ii. FUPRE will admit students via Direct Entry into 200 Level only through the
JUPEB with effect from 2015/2016 session.
iii. FUPRE requires all candidates applying for admission to possess a minimum
of five (5) credit passes in SSCE/NABTEB/NECO etc. at not more than two
sittings in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
2.2.14 UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A pass at credit Level in English Language and Mathematics is required
for admission into all courses. An ordinary pass in Mathematics may be
accepted for LAW and all ARTS based courses.
2.2.15 FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, OWERRI
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A pass at credit Level in English Language, Mathematics and Chemistry is a
MUST in addition to credit passes in other subjects relevant to the
respective Department.
2.2.16 UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN
ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
1. Admission by Entrance Examination – UTME.
The Entrance Examination is conducted by JAMB. In addition to attaining
the required standard in entrance examination, candidates must satisfy the
general University as well as specific Faculty requirements.
For the general requirement, candidates must obtain at least a credit pass in
five subjects at S.S.C.E. O’Level or approved equivalent, including English
Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings (See tables for
other faculty requirements).
2. Admission by Direct Entry
Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:
(i) A minimum of two passes at the Principal or Advanced Level. In
addition, candidates must also obtain at least a credit pass in five
subjects at S.S.C.E. or approved equivalent, including English
Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings (See
tables for other faculty requirements).
(ii) A minimum of two passes in recognized NCE subjects. Education is
accepted as a second ‘A’ Level subject for those taking courses in
Education. In addition, candidates must also obtain at least a credit
pass in five subjects at S.S.C.E. or approved equivalent, including
English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings.
(See tables for other faculty requirements).
(iii) Candidates who successfully pass the final examination of the
following Institutions shall also be considered eligible for
admission: The International Baccalaureate obtained from an

accredited Institution with relevant gradings; the University of
Ilorin Diploma, National Diploma from Monotechnics/Polytechnics
or Colleges of Technology, not below Upper Credit,and applicable
only to some faculties (See table on Special Faculty requirements);
and the Defence Academy Certificate as moderated by a
recognized University. In addition, candidates must also obtain at
least a credit pass in five subjects at S.S.C.E. or approved
equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics at not
more than two sittings
Other conditions to note:
(i) No subject may be counted at both O’ and A’ Levels.
(ii) General Paper at H.S.C. or in any other examination will not be
accepted as a substitute for English language.
(iii) A credit pass in English Language and Mathematics of the IJMB at
the O’ Level is acceptable as equivalent to SSCE/GCE O’ Level for
admission purpose.
2.2.17 VERITAS UNIVERSITY, ABUJA
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
(i) A minimum standard of five (5) credits at not more than two sittings, including
English in all courses. For all Science Courses, candidates must have credits in
Physics, Chemistry and Biology. For Management and Social Sciences,
candidates requires five (5) credits pass to include English and Mathematics.
For courses in Economics, candidates must have credit in Economics and for
other Social Science Courses, e.g. Political Science/Sociology. Candidates must
have a pass in Mathematics.
(ii) Grade II Teacher's Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit passes in at least five
(5) subjects.
iii) National Teaching Certificate (NTC), National Business Certificate (NBC) with
credit passes in five (5) subjects relevant to the course and obtained at not
more than two sittings. For the purpose of NTC/NBC, a credit in any General
Education subjects, trade related subjects and trade component subjects is
equivalent to a credit in a subject.
ENTRY BY DIRECT APPLICATION (DE)
Applicants with one of the following qualifications may be considered for
admission. However, the University will not admit into 200 level in its first two
years of operation.
i) A minimum of five (5) subjects passes at not more than two sittings with at
least two at the Principal or Advanced level of the GCE and the others, at
credit level of the SSCE/GCE O/Level, NTC/NBC. No subject shall be counted
at both Ordinary and Advanced levels.
ii) Passes in two major subjects in the NCE with S.S.C. O/Level, NTC/NBC
credits or equivalents in THREE other subjects (mainly for Education
Courses). Education may be accepted as a third A/Level subject for those
taking course in Education.
iii) Two passes at the IJMB examination or Cambridge moderated Schools of
Basic Studies terminal examination or International Baccalaureate from
recognized institutions with SSCE/GCE O/Level, NTC/NBC credits or
equivalent in three other subjects (SUBJECT TO UNIVERSITY
REQUIREMENTS).
iv) First Degree holders.
2.2.18 KADUNA STATE UNIVERSITY
GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Kaduna State University requires all candidates applying for admission of its courses
to possess at least five (5) SSCE credit passes in relevant subjects at not more than
two sittings including English Language. A credit in Mathematics is required for all

Science as well as Social and Management Science courses. At least a pass is required
for all Arts courses.
The University accepts 'O' level results of WAEC and NECO only for admission into all its
programmes. The University does not accept Direct Entry candidates, and hence all
candidates must come through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The University does not accept Agricultural Science, Home Management and Food and
Nutrition for admission into any of its programmes for now.
2.2. 19 AJAYI CROWTHER UNIVERSITY (ACU), OYO
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All candidates applying for admission into any 100 level undergraduate programme of
ACU must possess a minimum of five (5) SSCE credit passes at one sitting or six (6) SSCE
credit passes at not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE, NECO or its equivalent. One of
the credit passes must be in English Language while the candidates, should in addition,
satisfy the specific requirements for each programme. All candidates are expected to
obtain JAMB admission form for UTME or Direct Entry and make Ajayi Crowther their
first choice University and sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations

i. Admission into the Akwa Ibom State University shall be through the Unified
Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) by the Joint Admission and
Matriculation Board (JAMB) or Direct Entry (DE). In addition to attaining the
general required standard in UTME, candidates must satisfy the general
University entry requirements as well as specific Faculty/School and
Programmes requirements.
ii The candidates must be over 16 years of age by 1st of October in the year of
admission.
iii. Candidates must possess at least 5 credit passes in relevant subjects
including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved
equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
iv. Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) Certificate with passes at credit or

A. 100 LEVEL
i. Five credits in the SSCE/GCE O' Level/NECO/NABTEB or equivalents at not
more than two (2) sittings obtained in subjects relevant to the proposed
field(s) of study.
ii. Teachers' Grade II Certificate with a minimum of five merits of its
combination with any of the certificates listed under (i) to obtain equivalent
of five credits at O' Levels.
iii. Candidates seeking admission into School of Law must have five (5) credits
including English Language, Literature in English and at least a Pass in

Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings in NECO/SSCE or GCE O/L

iv. The School of Arts and Social Sciences requires that one of the five credits or
merits must be in English Language, while at least two (2) should be in
subjects relevant to the proposed field.

passes must include English and Mathematics.
vi. For School of Education, the credit passes must include Mathematics for
Science Education applicants and English Language for all humanities.
Additionally, those in Science Education must have credit in English
Language.

i. National Diploma from recognized institutions.

at not more than two sittings in NECO/SSCE or GCE 'O' level only.

v. Five credit passes at SSCE/GCE 'O' and 'A' level must be in subjects relevant
to the proposed field(s) of study.
vi. A credit level pass in Mathematics is required for all Sciences and
Technology, Business Education and Science Education Programmes. A pass

pass in English Language may be considered for Physics and Mathematics

vii. Candidates applying for B.A English, B.A. (Ed) English and B.Sc. Mass
Communication must have a credit in Literature in English.
viii. Prior knowledge and relevant work experience (including firs
degree/HND/RN) may be considered for advanced placement and waiver.

Holders of the following qualifications may be considered for Direct Entry
(D/E):- OND/HND/NCE (Credit/Merit) in Agriculture.
The University of Agriculture, Makurdi requires all candidates to possess
at least 5 SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry,
Physics and Biology.
However, Pass in Physics is acceptable for Agricultural programmes
except Water Resources Management and Agrometeorology, where
credit in Geography is mandatory. Also Agricultural Programmes require a
minimum of a pass in Biology and credit in Agricultural Science or vice
versa. Credit in Biology only is also acceptable.

32 BAYERO UNIVERSITY, KANO
U.T.M.E ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Bayero University Kano require all Candidates applying for admission into
any of its programme to possess at list Five (5) SSCE Credit passes at not
more than two setting including English Language and Mathematics for all
Science based courses.
DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION
Bayero University accepts National Diploma at Upper Credit level, its
own Diploma merit level with C.G.P.A of (2.75) into level 2 and N.C.E at
merit level for the programme in the Faculty of Education and Science.
2.2. 33 LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY, OJO
Admission Requirements:
Admissions into the University are in two categories as follows:
i). Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
The UTME admits prospective candidates into the 100 level of various
degree programmes in the University.
General Entry Requirements:
Five (5) credits in:
The Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE);
The General Certificate of Education (GCE); and
The National Examination Council Certificate (NECO), which must
include English Language and Mathematics and any other three
recommended subjects depending on the area of study, at a maximum
of two sittings.
ii). Direct Entry
Lagos State University accepts:
a). Its own Diploma Certificate
b). LASU Foundation Certificate
c). NCE Certificate for direct entry admission into the Faculty of
Education.
2.2. 34 OSUN STATE UNIVERSITY, OSOGBO
U.T.M.E ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
For admission by UTME into any of the first degree programmes, candidate
shall be required to posses minimum qualification of Senior Secondary
School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5)
subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an
acceptable score in the UTME.
DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION
Candidates seeking admission by Direct Entry into 200 level must have at
least five (5) O’ level credit passes, two of which must be at Advanced Level
or approved equivalents.

2.2. 35 IGNATIUS AJURU UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, PORT HARCOURT
U.T.M.E ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
For admission by UTME into any of the first degree programmes, candidate
MUST posses minimum qualification of Senior Secondary School Certificate
(SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects to
include English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects relevant to
the candidates proposed course of study at not more than two sittings.
DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION
Candidates seeking admission by Direct Entry must have higher level
qualifications such as GCE A’ level or equivalent, NCE, ND, HND with the
appropriate classification provided candidates also satisfy the general entry
requirements for admission into the University.
In addition, candidates must satisfy the departmental entry requirements.
2.2.36 PAUL UNIVERSITY, AWKA
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidate seeking admission through UTME must possess five credit passes
at O’ level to include English Language, Mathematics and three other
subjects relevant to the candidates proposed course of study.
Candidates seeking admissions through Direct Entry must possess at least
two A’ level passes in the relevant subjects or have at least an ND with at
least lower credit passes in the relevant discipline.
2.2.37 KWARA STATE UNIVERSITY, MALETE
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Kwara State University requires all candidates seeking admission into any of
its programmes to posses at least five (5) O’ level credit passes at not more
than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics for all
Sciences and Management Sciences related courses.
It accepts its own Foundation Scheme, ND with minimum of upper credit,
HND with lower credit, GCE A’ level, NCE in specific areas and IJMB for
Direct Entry.
2.2.38 FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (TECHNICAL), OMOKU, RIVERS STATE
(IN AFFILIATION WITH UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All candidates applying for admission into any of its courses to possess five
credits level passes in English Language and a Science Subject in not more
than two sittings.
Entry requirement for direct entry must include UTME requirements for
that particular course.

2.2.39 NIGERIAN POLICE ACADEMY, WUDIL, KANO STATE
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All candidates applying for admission into any of its courses to possess the
following:
(1) Candidates must be Nigerian citizen and must be between 18 and 22 years of
age, and must have a height of not less than 5 foot 6 inches (1.68 metres) for
males and 5 foot 4 inches (1.63 inches) for females. In addition, male
candidates must have an expanded chest size of not less than 36 inches
(91cm).
(2) Candidates must have obtained a minimum of six credits at Senior Secondary
Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the West African Examinations
Council (WAEC) of the National Examinations Council (NECO) at not more than
two (2) sittings, and including a credit pass in English Language and
Mathematics and including subjects relevant to the candidate’s chosen course
in the Academy.
(3) Candidates must also obtain satisfactory scores in both the written
examination and the interview and must pass rigorous physical and
psychological tests of fitness.
2.2.40 SAMUEL ADEGBOYEGA UNIVERSITY, OGWA, EDO STATE
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
100 LEVEL
A minimum of five (5) credit passes at not more than two sittings, including
English for all courses and Mathematics for courses in the College of Basic
and Applied Sciences and College of Management and Social Sciences.
DIRECT ENTRY
In addition to the above requirements, candidates must have one of the
following:
i. ‘A’ level passes in two relevant subjects.
ii. ND (Credit) from a recognised Polytechnic
iii. NCE (merit) from a recognised College of Education
iv. Diploma or Foundation programme Certificate (2 years duration)
from a recognised University, with a CGPA of not less than 2.0
2.2.41 RHEMA UNIVERSITY, ABA
GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
UTME
Five credit passes in not more than two sittings in:
i. The Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE),
ii. The General Certificate of Education (GCE),
iii. The National Examinations Council Certificate (NECO)
iv. The National Business and Technical Examination Board Certificate

In each case, the credit passes must include English Language, Mathematics

2.2.42 ONDO STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, OKITIPUPA
UTME ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Prospective candidates seeking admission to Ondo State University of
Science and Technology, Okitipupa for first degree course must have at least
five credit passes at one (1) sitting in SSCE, GCE or NECO including English
Language and Mathematics.
The UTME admits prospective candidates into the 100 level of various
degree programmes in the University.
All courses are of five years duration.
DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for Direct Entry must possess at least two Advanced Level passes
in relevant science subjects in addition to having five passes at credit level in
SSCE, GCE or NECO including English Language and Mathematics at one (1)
sitting.
In addition, candidates must satisfy the departmental entry.
2.2.43 FEDERAL UNIVERSITY, OTUOKE, BAYELSA STATE
UTME ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
ARTS
Five O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, GCE or
NECO including English Language, Mathematics and any two (2) of
Literature, Religious Knowledge and History or Government.
SOCIAL SCIENCES
Five O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, GCE or
NECO including English Language, Mathematics and any two (2) of
Accounting, Geography, Government and any other subject.
MANAGEMENT SCIENCES (ADMINISTRATION)
Five O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, GCE or
NECO including English Language, Mathematics and any three (3) of
Accounting, Business Studies, Commerce and Economics.
SCIENCES
Five O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, GCE or
NECO including English Language, Mathematics and any three (3) Science
subjects.
ENGINEERING/ENVIRONMENTAL/TECHNOLOGY
Five O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, GCE or
NECO including English Language, Mathematics and any three (3) Science
subjects.
2.2.44 NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY, KADUNA, KADUNA STATE
REQUIREMENT FOR ADMISSION INTO THE REGULAR COURSE
1. To be eligible for admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy, a
candidate must have the following:
a. Minimum of five (5) credit passes at SSCE (WAEC or NECO) or GCE
O’ level or Grade II Teachers Certificate obtained in not more than
two (2) sittings relevant to the Faculty of their choices.

b. Credit pass in English language and Mathematics.
c. At least one supporting relevant credit to the compulsory credits in
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Faculty of Science.
However, only one supporting relevant credit is required in the
Faculty of Engineering.
d. Be at least seventeen (17) years old and not more than twenty-one
(21) years old at the time of entry into the Academy. Note that
Nigerian Airforce candidates must be between seventeen (17) and
eighteen (18) years old at entry.
e. Must be medically and physically fit and must be of good moral
character.
f. Must be single male or female without legal obligation to support
any child or other individuals.
g. Present a Certificate of Origin obtained from a Local Government
and a Certificate of State Indegeneship from the Office of the State
Governor is desirable.
2. Furthermore, candidates are to note the following:
a. Awaiting results are not qualified. Results not submitted with
application form will not be accepted.
b. Only examination results of five (5) years from date will be
accepted.
c. Currently, admission into the Academy is for both MALE and
FEMALE NIGERIANS ONLY.
Five O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE, GCE or
NECO including English Language, Mathematics and any two (2) of
Literature, Religious Knowledge and History or Government.
2.2.45 DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY, ABRAKA
A) GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
University Matriculation Examination (UME)
i) Candidates should possess credit passes in five (5) relevant
subjects at the Ordinary Level or its equivalent at not more than
two sittings. The subjects should include English Language and
Mathematics for all courses;
ii) Candidates must not be less than 16 years of age at the time of
admission.
B) DIRECT ENTRY
i) Candidates should possess five credit passes, two at Advanced
Level and three at O/L including English Language provided the
subjects at both levels are not counted twice.
ii) At least merit passes in the two major teaching subjects at the NCE
with passes at credit level in three other subjects at the ordinary
level or its equivalent, including English Language and
Mathematics. Education shall be counted as a subject required for
matriculation in case of candidates applying for admission into the
Faculty of Education only
iii) Candidates with OND Certificates (with a minimum grade of Upper
Credit) in the relevant courses from recognized institution may be
considered for Direct Entry into the appropriate
Departments/Faculties provided they possess the minimum
matriculation requirements of the University as well.
iv) Candidates with Diploma from the Delta State University with at
least Credit pass may be considered for admission by direct entry
provided they satisfy the minimum matriculation requirements of
the University.
Note:
a) A pass in General paper in the Higher School Certificate is not
acceptable as equivalent to a credit pass in English Language.
b) TC II Arithmetic process is not acceptable as equivalent to O/level
Certificate Mathematics.
c) A pass in NCE General English may be acceptable as an equivalent
of an O/level credit pass in English Language.

d) A pass in NCE Basic Mathematics may be acceptable as an
equivalent of an O/level credit pass in Mathematics
2.2.46 FEDERAL UNIVERSITY, LAFIA
Federal University, Lafia requires all candidates applying for admission into
any of its courses to possess at least Five (5) “O” Level credit passes in not
more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics.
NOTE:
Federal University, Lafia does not accept awaiting results candidates for all
its programmes (so awaiting results candidates need not apply to the
University).
DIRECT ENTRY
Federal University, Lafia does not currently accept Direct Entry candidates
for all its programmes (so Direct Entry candidates need not apply to the
University).
2.2.47 UNIVERSITY OF JOS, JOS
UTME
i. As a general requirement, University of Jos accepts five (5) ‘O’ level
credits including English Language and other departmental
requirements as stated in the relevant sections of the brochure.
Jos accepts SSCE, WASSCE, NECO and NABTEB in not more than
two (2) sittings.
ii. Candidates are required to pass the post UTME screening of the
University in addition to obtaining the national minimum cut-off
marks.
DIRECT ENTRY
i. JOS accepts advanced level GCE, IJMB, HSC with at least two
passes in principal subjects.
ii. JOS accepts its own Diploma and other Diploma/HND with lower
or upper credit of not less than two years duration obtained from
institutions recognized by the University of Jos and such Diplomas
must be duly accredited by the National Board for Technical
Education (NBTE) or by the recognized/professional or
accreditation bodies.
iii. JOS accepts NCE for courses in Education at credit/merit level. JOS
accepts NCE pass in Language and Communication skills as
equivalent to ‘O’ level credit in English Language, provided such
candidates are given Direct Entry admission to read Education
courses only.
iv. Jos accepts IJMB ‘O’ level pass in English Language as equivalent of
‘O’ level credit pass in English Language provided the candidate
applied for Direct Entry using IJMB result only.
2.2.48 AUGUSTINE UNIVERSITY, ILARA
Prospective candidates seeking admission into the University must not be
less than 16 years of age and would need to satisfy the following general
requirements before they are offered admission into the University:
a. All admissions into the University shall be through the Joint
Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB)
b. For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates must:
Obtain five (5) credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in relevant
subjects including English and Mathematics at not more than 2
sittings;
Score a satisfactory point in UTME in relevant subjects and satisfy
the University requirements in a Post-UTME screening exercise.
c. For admission to 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in
addition to 5 SSCE credit passes stated above, obtain at least two
(2) A’ level (or its equivalent) full passes in relevant subjects, or
possess NCE, or possess a good first degree in another field as the
case may be.
d. Depending on each programme, degree holders and Higher
National Diploma (HND) holders from recognized universities and
polytechnics may be admitted into relevant programmes at 300
level to pursue a degree course.
e. All candidates seeking admission into the University must meet the
SSCE basic requirements..
